I still feel pretty bad about not being all that into Miami Vice and Public Enemies, despite their obvious charms. But it’s been two years now and yeah, that’s swell about your HBO show, but I was thinking maybe we could put the unpleasantness behind us and get back to some good, old-fashioned, theatrical movie work. I’ve been seeing some Fincher, some Nolan, and they’re great, really great - don’t get me wrong. But when it comes to man’s-man, alpha-male, cinema-realism, macho-but-not-posturing kind of cool, there’s no one better than you.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m sorry. You don’t have to say it back - why would you - but I just think it’d be nice if we could start hanging out together again.

I miss you, man.
